How to create a substance
Before you create or edit a substance you will need to know the following information:
- The GHS/CLP hazard classifications.
- The CAS/EINECS codes and
- Possibly the Reach code.
- When trading with German companies the ’Verwaltungsvorschrift wassergefährdende Stoffe’ water regulations.
- The active substance name.
- The strength of the active substance
- The OEL/WEL’s for the substance for each country the substance will be sold to.
- The toxicology information for the substance.
- The ecology information for the substance.
- The component group.
- Your stock code for the substance.
For the food industry
- Ingredient type.
- Allergens for the substance
- The diets the substance is suitable for.
- E numbers applicable for the substance.
- The nutritional values for the substance
Now that you have got the minimal substance information together you will need to create or edit the component. Components are the generic groups that all substances are linked to. Create the active substance entry for the substance

When you have hazardous information for the substance you need to enter it on the toxicology and ecology screens.
